In May of 2019, the Louisiana Legislature approved a deal that would see the Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville, Louisiana, owned by the federally recognized Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana. The casino had been owned by the state since it was developed in the early 1990s as a land-based casino.

The tribe plans to invest $600 million into the property, including a new hotel tower, convention center, and spa. The move will also create 1,000 new jobs. .
