Can You Count Cards in Blackjack Now?

In blackjack, card counting is a strategy that players use to keep track of the ratio of high cards to low cards in the deck. The idea is that if there are more high cards left in the deck, the player has a better chance of getting a blackjack, which pays out at 3-to-2 odds.

Conversely, if there are more low cards left in the deck, the player’s chances of getting a blackjack are slim.

There are a few different ways to count cards, but the most popular method is called the High-Low system. With this system, players assign a value of +1 to all 2s through 6s, 0 to all 7s through 9s, and -1 to all 10s, Jacks, Queens and Kings.

Aces are counted as 0 or -1, depending on what’s best for the player at any given time.

To keep track of the count, players simply add up the values of the cards as they’re dealt. If the count is positive (meaning there are more high cards left in the deck), it’s an indication that the player has an advantage and should bet more money.

If the count is negative (meaning there are more low cards left in the deck), it’s an indication that the house has an advantage and the player should bet less money.

Of course, card counting isn’t foolproof, and it takes a lot of practice to get good at it. In addition, casinos have gotten wise to card counters over the years and have implemented a number of countermeasures to prevent them from winning too much money.

These include things like shuffling the deck more often, using multiple decks at once and even banning players who are caught counting cards.
