Do Reactions Use Spell Slots?

One type of spell is known as a reaction.

Reactions are spells that are cast in response to something that happens. For example, the spell “Shield” can be cast as a reaction when you are attacked.

This means that you can cast the spell without using your action or taking any other time to prepare.

So, do reactions use spell slots? The answer is yes and no. Reacting to something does not use up your action for the turn, so you can still use your other spells and abilities.

However, the reaction does use up a spell slot. This means that if you have already used all of your slots for the day, you cannot use a reaction.
