Do You Have to Call 21 in Blackjack?

In blackjack, 21 is the magic number. But do you always have to call 21?

The answer is no. Sometimes, it’s better to stand on a lower number. But when should you do this?

The most common time to call 21 is when the dealer is showing a low card. If the dealer is showing a 2 through 6, they’re more likely to bust than if they’re showing a 7 or higher.

So, if you have a low number yourself, it’s generally better to call 21 and try to get closer to the magical number.

There are other times when you might want to call 21 as well. For example, if you have a 16 and the dealer is showing a 9, you might want to call 21 because there’s a good chance the dealer will bust.

Of course, you don’t have to call 21 every time. If you have a high number yourself, like 20, it’s usually better to stand and hope the dealer busts.

The same goes for when the dealer is showing a high card.

So, in general, you should only call 21 when the dealer is showing a low card and you have a low number yourself. But as with all things in blackjack, it’s important to use your best judgment and go with your gut feeling.
