Does Multiclassing Increase Spell Slots?

Multiclassing is a popular option for players looking to add some variety to their characters. It can also be a great way to increase your spellcasting options. But does multiclassing actually increase your spell slots?

The answer is yes and no. When you multiclass into a new class, you gain access to that class’s spellcasting ability.

However, you don’t automatically get additional spell slots. Instead, you have to use your new class’s spellcasting ability to determine how many spell slots you have.

For example, let’s say you’re a 3rd-level wizard who multiclasses into a fighter. You would now have access to fighter-specific spells, but you would only have three 1st-level spell slots (your wizard level plus your fighter level, minus one).

If you wanted to have more spell slots, you would need to increase your fighter level.

So while multiclassing can give you access to more spells, it doesn’t automatically increase the number of spell slots you have available. If you want more spell slots, you’ll need to put some levels into classes that grant them.
