Does Pathfinder Use Spell Slots?

Pathfinder is a tabletop RPG based off of the 3.5 Ruleset of Dungeons and Dragons. It is designed by Paizo Publishing, and many of the designers also worked on Dungeons and Dragons 3rd edition. Pathfinder uses a class and level system, much like Dungeons and Dragons.

However, there are some key differences between the two systems. One of those key differences is how spells are cast.

In Dungeons and Dragons 3.5, spells are cast using spell slots. This means that a character can only cast a certain number of spells per day, and each spell takes up a different sized slot.

For example, a first level spell might take up a first level slot, while a third level spell would take up a third level slot. A character has to have a spell slot of the appropriate level to cast the spell.

In Pathfinder, spells are not cast using spell slots. Instead, they are prepared ahead of time and do not take up any slots when they are cast. This means that a character can cast any number of spells per day, as long as they have prepared them ahead of time.

This makes Pathfinder’s magic system much more flexible than Dungeons and Dragons 3.5’s system.

So, does Pathfinder use spell slots? No, it does not.
