How Do You Play the Roulette?

There are many ways to play roulette, but the most important thing is to know the rules of the game. The object of roulette is to bet on where the ball will land on the wheel. There are 38 numbers on a roulette wheel: 1 through 36, 0, and 00.

The numbers 1 through 36 are alternate red and black, while 0 and 00 are green. Players can bet on a single number, a range of numbers, the colors red or black, whether the number is odd or even, or if the numbers are high (19–36) or low (1–18).

To place a bet, players must first exchange cash for chips from the dealer. Once chips are obtained, players can then place their bets on the roulette table. The specific bets are as follows:

-A “straight-up” bet is a wager on a single number. This bet pays off at 35 to 1.

PRO TIP:When playing Roulette, it’s important to remember that the house has an edge. If you want to increase your chances of winning, focus on outside bets such as red/black or even/odd. This will give you a better chance of coming out ahead in the long run.

-A “split” bet is a wager on two adjacent numbers, such as 1-2 or 13-14. This bet pays off at 17 to 1.

-A “street” bet is a wager on three consecutive numbers, such as 7-8-9 or 31-32-33. This bet pays off at 11 to 1.

-A “corner” or “square” bet is a wager on four adjacent numbers, such as 8-9-11-12 or 35-36-0-1. This bet pays off at 8 to 1.

After all bets have been placed, the dealer spins the ball around the outside of the wheel. The ball eventually loses momentum and falls into one of 38 numbered pockets around the wheel. If any bets have been placed on the number that corresponds to where the ball landed, then those players will be paid off according to the odds of their respective bets.

For example, if someone placed a straight up bet on 14 and that’s where the ball landed, then they would be paid off at 35 to 1 odds (meaning they would receive 35 chips for every chip they wagered). If no one hit the winning number, then all losing bets will be collected by the house and new round of betting will begin.
