The good news is that you can upgrade the storage yourself without too much trouble. The bottom panel of the Acer Nitro 5 is held in place by 11 Phillips head screws. Once you remove those, the bottom panel pops right off to reveal the M.

If you want to install a second M.2 PCIe SSD, you can simply remove the existing one and replace it with a new one.

Just make sure that your new SSD is the same length (2280) and width (80mm) as the old one.

Installing a hard drive or second SSD is a bit more complicated since you’ll need to connect it to the SATA port on the motherboard. This requires removing two screws that hold down a metal bracket over the SATA port.

Once you do that, you can slide in your hard drive or SSD and screw it into place.
