How Many Points Is a King in Blackjack?

A blackjack, also called a natural, is an automatic win for the player and pays 3 to 2. If both the dealer and player have a blackjack, it is a push.

Blackjack is the best possible hand in most casino games, giving the player an edge over the house of about 1%.

The name “blackjack” comes from the fact that when blackjack was first introduced in casinos, it offered a 10-to-1 payout if the player’s hand consisted of the ace of spades and a black jack (either the jack of clubs or the jack of spades). This special rule gave the player an advantage over the house, so it was soon removed.

In standard blackjack, if the player is dealt a total of 21 on their first two cards (an ace and a 10-value card), this is called a natural or blackjack. A natural gives the player a big advantage over the house, so casinos put rules in place that give them back some of that advantage.

In most casinos, a natural pays 3 to 2. This means that if you bet $5 and are dealt a natural, you will win $7.

50 (your original bet plus 3/2 of your bet). If both you and the dealer have a natural, it is a push and your bet is returned.

Some casinos have different rules for naturals. In some places, a natural only pays 6 to 5, or even money.

This gives the house more of an advantage, so be sure to check the rules before you play.

The value of a king in blackjack depends on what other cards are in your hand. If you have any other cards that are worth 10 points (a queen, jack, or 10), then your hand is worth 20 points.

If you don’t have any other cards that are worth 10 points, then your hand is worth 10 points.
