MGM Grand Detroit reopened its poker room on Jan. 16, becoming the first casino in the state to do so since the pandemic began. The room will be open from noon to 2 a.

m. seven days a week.

“We are thrilled to reopen our poker room and provide this much-anticipated amenity to our patrons,” said MGM Grand Detroit President and COO Mike Neubeck in a statement. “The health and safety of our guests and employees is always our top priority and we have worked diligently with the Michigan Gaming Control Board to ensure that our poker room meets or exceeds their guidelines.”

While this is great news, it’s important to note that not all of the state’s poker rooms have reopened yet. The room will have four live tables with a maximum of six players per table, in line with state guidelines. Tables will be sanitized after each use and plexiglass barriers have been installed between players and dealers.

Employees will also be wearing masks and gloves at all times.
