In June 2018, Hard Rock International announced that it had acquired the former Trump Taj Mahal property in Atlantic City. The property was renamed the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, and underwent a $500 million renovation.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City replaced the Trump Taj Mahal, which closed in October 2016. The Trump Taj Mahal was owned by billionaire investor Carl Icahn, and was originally built by Donald Trump.
