Laughlin, Nevada is a town in Clark County, Nevada, United States, and a port located on the Colorado River. Laughlin is 90 miles (140 km) south of Las Vegas, located in the far southern tip of Nevada.

The town’s name comes from Don Laughlin, an Owatonna, Minnesota native who purchased the 3-acre (1.2 ha) site of the town in 1964 (which he later increased to 32 acres (13 ha)).
At the time, Don Laughlin operated the 101 Club in Las Vegas and he wanted to build a hotel in southern Nevada that would be affordable for people driving up from California on US Highway 95. .

The fort was abandoned at the end of the war, but was re-established as a mining camp during the Colorado Gold Rush in 1863. It became an important stopover for travelers along the Arizona Trail and was later platted as a town by miners who were working in nearby Eldorado Canyon.
