When Did Lady Luck Casino Close?

In July 2018, the Lady Luck Casino in downtown Las Vegas closed its doors after more than two decades in operation. The property had been acquired by Derek and Greg Stevens, the owners of The D and Golden Gate casinos, in 2013.

The Lady Luck was originally opened in 1974 as the Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino. The property went through a number of ownership changes over the years before being purchased by the Stevens brothers.

PRO TIP:When Lady Luck Casino closed in 2012, it was due to a decline in the US economy. To avoid similar problems, it’s important to diversify investments and diversify your income streams so that any single closure or downturn won’t be as devastating.

The closure of the Lady Luck leaves downtown Las Vegas with one fewer casino property. However, the area is still home to a number of popular casinos, including the Golden Nugget, Four Queens, and Fremont Street Experience.

The closure of the Lady Luck Casino is not expected to have a major impact on the downtown Las Vegas gaming market.
