How Do You Calculate Multiclass Spell Slots?

Multiclass spellcasting is a bit more complicated than single-class spellcasting. To figure out how many spells you can cast per day, you need to know two things: your spellcasting ability for the class you’re casting spells as, and the level of the spells you want to cast.

If you have more than one spellcasting class, this table shows how to combine them to determine your total number of slots. For example, if you are a 3rd-level bard and a 2nd-level sorcerer, you have four 1st-level spell slots and two 2nd-level slots.

| Level | Bard | Sorcerer |
|:—–:|:——:|:——–:|
| 1st | 2 | 2 |
| 2nd | 3 | 3 |
| 3rd | 4 | 4 |
| 4th | 5 | 5 |
| 5th | 6 | 6 |
| 6th | 7 | 7 |
| 7th | 8 | 8 |
| 8th | 9 | 9 |
| 9th | 10 | 10 |

To calculate your total number of slots, simply add together all of the levels from each of your classes that grant spellcasting. In the above example, the bard’s levels (3rd) would be added to the sorcerer’s levels (2nd) for a total of 5 levels.

This would give the character 5 1st-level slots, 4 2nd-level slots, and so on.
