In Terraria, accessories are items that can be equipped in the accessory slots below your armor. These include the following:
Amulets
Bells
Earmuffs
Headbands
Masks
Necklaces
Rings
Trophies

There are a total of 12 possible slots for accessories, but you start with only 3 slots unlocked. In order to increase the number of accessory slots, you must find and use special items called Accessory Slots. There are a few different ways to get these items:
Find them in Chests: Accessory Slots have a chance to be found in any type of chest. This includes Wooden, Gold, Shadow, and Living Chests, as well as Water Chests (in the Ocean) and Lihzahrd Chests (in the Jungle Temple). You can also find them in locked Gold Chests and Shadow Chests.
Get them from Anglers: After completing the Angler’s quests, he will occasionally give you an Accessory Slot in addition to other rewards.
The chance of receiving one increases as you complete more quests for him.
Purchase them from the Traveling Merchant: The Traveling Merchant sometimes sells an Accessory Slot for 5 . He only sells one per day, and only if you have at least one empty accessory slot. .
Accessory Slots cannot be placed in storage containers like chests or Piggy Banks. However, they can be placed in your inventory or quick-access bar for easy use.
When used, they will permanently unlock an additional accessory slot. You can have a maximum of 12 unlocked accessory slots at any time.
