Excalibur is situated at the Tropicana – Las Vegas Boulevard intersection. The hotel is linked by overhead pedestrian bridges to neighboring casinos New York-New York and Tropicana.

The layout of Excalibur consists of two large main floors with an extensive mezzanine level above. The main floor contained the casino, dining areas, and showrooms.

The second floor contained more gambling space and various shops as well as the entrance to the dungeon-themed Medievel Times dinner show. The mezzanine level featured a food court containing several fast food outlets, as well as a seat amphitheater-style movie theater.

Excalibur has been featured in several television series and films including the NBC comedy series Las Vegas where it is one of the main settings for the characters’ jobs at the fictional Montecito Resort & Casino. The 1987 movie The Lost Boys also used Excalibur’s exterior as a stand-in for Santa Carla’s boardwalk amusement park setting.

In addition, Excalibur was used in a season five episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation entitled “What’s Eating Gilbert Grissom?” in which Grissom and his team investigate a murder inside one of the hotel’s rooms.

Excalibur has 2,000 slot machines which are spread out over two floors – the main floor and upper mezzanine level.
