The last casino to be demolished in Las Vegas was the Riviera Hotel and Casino. The Riviera was one of the first casinos to be built on the Las Vegas Strip and was a popular destination for high rollers and celebrities for over 60 years. However, the casino had fallen into disrepair in recent years and was sold to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority in February 2015. The authority voted to demolish the casino in order to make way for an expansion of the convention center.
