When Did Buffalo Bill’s Casino Closed?

In 2014, the Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino in Primm, Nevada closed its doors after 25 years in operation. The property was sold to Starwood Capital Group for $35 million and was renamed as the Primm Valley Resort & Casino.

The closure of Buffalo Bill’s marked the end of an era for Las Vegas gaming.

Buffalo Bill’s was one of the first casinos to open in Primm, Nevada when gambling was legalized in the state in 1989. The resort was named after William “Buffalo Bill” Cody, a famous American frontiersman and showman.

The property featured a large casino with over 1,700 slot machines and 60 table games, as well as a hotel with over 500 rooms.

The Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino was a popular destination for both tourists and locals alike. However, the casino began to struggle financially in the early 2000s. In 2004, the property was sold to MGM Mirage for $200 million.

MGM Mirage then announced plans to renovate and rebrand the resort as part of its Primadonna Resorts chain. However, these plans never came to fruition and the property continued to decline.

In 2011, following the bankruptcy of MGM Mirage, the property was sold to Starwood Capital Group for $35 million. Starwood then announced plans to close the casino and hotel and renovate the property into a non-gaming resort.

The Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino officially closed its doors on September 30, 2014.
